🏀 Your Kid Says Their Knee Hurts After Sports. Should You Worry?
Kids run, jump, pivot, land—and sometimes their knees complain about it!
A little soreness after a big game or practice can happen. But knee pain that keeps coming back, gets worse, causes swelling, or changes the way your child runs or walks shouldn’t be ignored.
Young athletes can develop overuse injuries, especially when they play the same sport year-round without enough recovery time.
🚩 When should you get it checked?
Consider having your child evaluated if they have:
- Knee pain that keeps returning
- Swelling
- Pain while walking or running
- Trouble straightening or bending the knee
- Limping
- Clicking, catching, or the knee feeling like it “locks”
- Pain that is interfering with sports or everyday activities
🏀 The good news?
Knee pain doesn’t automatically mean your young athlete has to sit on the bench. The right evaluation can help figure out what’s going on and what your child needs to safely get back to doing what they love.
If your kid’s knee is saying, “OUCH!”—it’s worth listening. 😉
